An Addison man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for robbing a delivery driver of $85 and a pizza.
Tavarius Smith, 24, of the 900 block of College Boulevard, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery Wednesday and was sentenced by DuPage County Judge John Kinsella.
Smith was one of two men charged in December after a series of robberies targeting pizza delivery drivers in Addison. Authorities said he and Shaun Frye, 19, held a BB gun to the chest of one victim, who handed over $85 and a pizza.
Police said four similar robberies involving BB guns happened between last October and December. In each case, authorities said, the victims were robbed of food and money while delivering orders to businesses on College and Meadows boulevards.
Frye, of the 200 block of Glen Ellyn Road in Bloomingdale, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery in February and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and two years of probation, court records show.
Authorities initially identified Smith as a Chicago resident, but his address is listed in court records as Addison.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
