Schaumburg Park District to host National Night Out Aug. 6 at Meineke Recreation Center

Having this much fun should be a crime!

Join the Schaumburg Park District in celebrating National Night Out from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Aug. 6 at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way.

This free end-of-summer event is jam-packed with fun for the whole family. Designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and generate support for local anticrime programs, National Night Out is as informational as it is entertaining.

“National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and meet those who serve and protect us,” said Doug Sieder, manager of Meineke Recreation Center. “It's going to be a special night with amusing activities, games and music.”

Silly games for children, contests, live music from a D.J. and sidewalk chalk play will be available from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Schaumburg police officers, state representatives, bike and motor patrolmen and firefighters will also join the fun throughout the night. Open swim in Meineke Pool will be available from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Barbecued concessions and drinks will be sold for a minimal cost.
