Elgin man charged with sexually assaulting girl he met on Facebook

Elgin police charged a 21-year-old man with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl whom prosecutors say he met on Facebook.
Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo set bail at $100,000 Tuesday for Diego Muro of the 1000 block of Berkshire Court in Elgin. Cataldo also ordered Muro to have no contact with the girl or with anyone under 18.
After exchanging texts and photographs, Muro met the girl at her home on June 12 and had sex with her, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Katherine Levine. She said Muro returned to the home several more times before he was arrested.
Muro, who has no criminal background, next appears in court on July 26.
