Schaumburg cancer group gets $1 million donation

The nonprofit Gateway for Cancer Research in Schaumburg has received a multiyear donation of $1 million from Michael T. Clune and his private general construction company Clune Construction, a national full-service general construction company.

The donation will help fund innovative cancer clinical trials. Clune said he admired Gateway’s approach.

“Nearly 99 cents of every dollar donated to Gateway goes directly to cancer research, which is an exceptional percentage relative to other nonprofits,” he said.

For more than twenty years, Gateway has provided much-needed funding to phase I and phase II cancer clinical trials at leading research institutions across the world.

In the past year, Gateway funded thirteen new patient-centered research studies and has committed funds to 24 research studies both domestic and abroad. More information is at DemandCuresToday.org.
