Woman killed by Metra train near Round Lake

An inbound Metra train struck and killed a woman near Round Lake late Saturday morning, a spokesman said.

Metra spokesman Michael Gillis did not have any additional information about the woman, who was killed shortly after the Milwaukee District North Line Train 2610 departed the Fox Lake Station at 11:45 a.m.

The woman was hit three stops later at Fairfield Road and Route 134 near the Round Lake Station, Gillis said.

The train was delayed about 90 minutes before reaching downtown Chicago. Another outbound train was delayed and an outbound train headed to Fox Lake had to stop in Grayslake and let passengers off there, Gillis said.
