District 59 appoints ELL director

The Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 school board recently appointed Maureen McAbee to the post of executive director of English Language Learning. McAbee will replace Susan Ejma, who has accepted the position of principal for Juliette Low School in Arlington Heights. McAbee will begin her assignment on Monday, July 1. McAbee has served as principal of both Rupley and Salt Creek schools -- the last 12 years at Salt Creek. She also has been involved in implementing the district's dual language program, coordinating the mentoring program, assisting in the development of the Danielson Framework based evaluation model, and participated in contract negotiations.
