Hoffman Estates relocating Fourth of July parade

Hoffman Estates will relocate its Fourth of July parade this year because of the ongoing reconstruction of Hassell Road, village officials said Thursday.

The parade will kick off at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4, near the intersection of Paris Lane and Illinois Boulevard.

Children’s “bike and trike” parade participants will assemble at 8:45 a.m. near the intersection of Kingman Lane and Illinois Boulevard.

The parade will march along Illinois Boulevard and conclude near the Children’s Advocacy Center, near the intersection of Illinois Boulevard and Geronimo Street.

Parking for parade spectators is on public side streets (where parking is allowed) adjacent to the parade route.

This year’s parade theme is “This Land is Your Land.”

The Celebrations Commission will be accepting donations of nonperishable canned or boxed goods and paper products at their float during the parade. The donations will be used to replenish area township food pantries. Monetary donations also will be accepted.
