Boomers get 16 hits in 10-4 victory

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — The Schaumburg Boomers bundled the runs in bunches Wednesday night with a 10-4 rout of the Traverse City Beach Bums in second game of the three-game set.

Schaumburg scored runs in four different innings, including three innings with 2 or more. The Boomers matched a franchise record with 16 hits in the victory.

Brian McConkey went 4-for-5 with 3 doubles, and Alexi Colon hit his third home run of the season in his 3-for-4 night with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Schaumburg and Traverse City square off in the rubber match of the series Thursday at 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Chris Phelan (3-0, 1.89) starts for the Boomers against fellow righty Johnny Omahen (2-3, 6.06).

The Boomers return to Boomers Stadium on Tuesday to open up a six-game homestand against the Southern Illinois Miners.
