Walking trail in works for Naperville park

Construction on a limestone walking trail will begin this summer at May Watts Park at 804 S. Whispering Hills Drive in Naperville, park district officials said.

Park officials said they met with residents in 2011 and 2012 to agree on a basic layout for the trail. The district conducted an engineering study last year to confirm the feasibility of the plan.

When complete, the trail will connect the north entrance of the park at Sequoia Road to the south entrance at Oakton Lane, including a loop around the southern portion of the pond.

The park was named for May Theilgaard Watts, a writer, teacher and founder of the Illinois Prairie Path.
