Barrington trustees this week approved two grants for the anticipated Tip Top Tap tavern at 104 N. Cook St., in the village's downtown.

The first was a $1,495 facade improvement grant to design and install awnings -- a project with a total cost of $2,990. The second was a $3,995 business assistance grant to help fund a $14,393 handicap-accessible ramp.

The tavern is primarily intended as a waiting area for Ciao Baby! restaurant, which sits 200 feet to the east at 232 E. Main St. and has insufficient room to expand.
