New Barrington tavern gets improvement grants

Barrington trustees this week approved two grants for the anticipated Tip Top Tap tavern at 104 N. Cook St., in the village’s downtown.

The first was a $1,495 facade improvement grant to design and install awnings — a project with a total cost of $2,990. The second was a $3,995 business assistance grant to help fund a $14,393 handicap-accessible ramp.

The tavern is primarily intended as a waiting area for Ciao Baby! restaurant, which sits 200 feet to the east at 232 E. Main St. and has insufficient room to expand.
