New program teaches kids about nature and songwriting
Submitted by McHenry County Conservation District
Bring out the “natural” musician in your children … enroll them in McHenry County Conservation District’s newest program, “Nature Songwriting for Kids.”
The program for youth, age 8 to 13, will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30 at Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road, Ringwood.
Songwriter Will Kruger will let the beauty of nature inspire the kids to create a song. After a nature hike, everyone will be invited to participate in writing the lyrics and guiding the songwriting process. At the end, they will all grab basic instruments and sing their celebrations of the plants and wildlife of the park.
Registration and fee required by Tuesday, June 25. It’s free for county residents and $5 for nonresidents. Registration is accepted online at www.mccdistrict.org, by phone (free programs only) at (815) 479-5779, or stop by the Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake.
