Edward Snowden left Hong Kong as a normal airline passenger using the usual and lawful channels while the Hong Kong government was processing a request from U.S. for his provisional arrest, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying told reporters today.
“I know some people in the United States, including the United States government, expressed displeasure about Mr. Snowden’s departure from Hong Kong to a third country,” Leung said.
Hong Kong citizens expect the government to follow procedures and uphold to the rule of law, he said.
Hong Kong must discuss issues related to foreign affairs with the Chinese government, he said.
Leung said Hong Kong’s relationship with the U.S. is an important one.Copyright © 2013 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
