Volunteer actors take part in historical society cemetery walk

“Spirits of the Past: Danby Goes To War,'” is the title of the Glen Ellyn Historical Society's Sunday, June 23, Cemetery Walk at Forest Hill Cemetery, Riford Road and Saint Charles Road in Glen Ellyn. Picture Danby, Illinois in 1860. it was prairie and farm land with dirt roads and the center of town was moving from Stacy's Corners to the new railroad site .Families were the center of life in Danby and the Civil War was just about to happen. Life was about to change. To interpret the lives of the people affected by the Civil War in Danby, the GEHS has gathered a talented group of volunteers for the day. The Grave Digger is played by Joseph Salamunovich, Cornelia Brooks is Meredith Salamunovich, Dr. Horace Potter is Mark Pfefferman, Wealthy Churchill is Sarah Anderson, William Churchill is Russ Nelson, Jacob Lair is JP Anderson, and Mary Beaner is Abryanna Ward. The actors are all active people in Glen Ellyn. Their participatioin ranges from Village Government, service organizations, Historical Society Board, church volunteers and realtors. The times for the CemeteryWalk are 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

The GEHS thanks Leonard Memorial Home, Lewek Photography and Forest Hill Cemetery for their help in making “Spirits of the Past: Danby Goes To War ,” a successful experience. Tickets can be purchased at Stacy's Corners Store, 800 N. Main Street, $10 for GEHS members, $15 for adults, $5 for students. Call 630-469-1867 for information.
