Grayslake pool honored for safety efforts

Starfish Aquatics Institute awarded the village of Grayslake’s Esper A. Petersen Foundation Family Aquatic Center the prestigious Five Star Award following an unannounced performance audit of its lifeguards and management staff.

“Very few aquatic facilities qualify to receive this honor,” said Leslie Donavan, president of Starfish. “It represents a tremendous commitment to safety and training, and exceptional performance by the lifeguard staff on duty at the time.”

Mayor Rhett Taylor was impressed by the recognition. “Safety is by far the most important service we provide to the many families that visit our facility each summer,” he said.
