Wheeling Park Board in search for new park commissioner

The Wheeling Park District’s board is accepting applications to fill Commissioner Larry Widmer’s vacant seat. He is moving out of town.

The position will last for the two years left on Widmer’s term. It will be up for election in 2015.

Anyone who is a registered voter and has lived in Wheeling for the past year is eligible to apply. Any individual who has been convicted of a felony or has outstanding tax payments to the park district will not be considered.

The position is unpaid and involves at least 10 hours of commitment a month, according to a news release.

The board holds meetings at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, as well as special meetings when necessary.

Those interested apply at the Community Recreation Center, 333 W. Dundee Rd., from June 24 until 12 p.m. on July 11. Mark completed applications to the attention of Marian Krass, executive administrative assistant, who can be reached for information at (847) 465-3333.
