Hanover Twp.’s emergency services unit receives certification

After nearly a three-year process that included the development of a comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan, the Hanover Township Emergency Services Department has received formal Emergency Management Agency certification from the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

The certification recognizes the department’s training program, disaster planning and emergency response capabilities. Earlier this year, the department received validation by the Illinois Search and Rescue Council, becoming only the ninth certified Ground Search and Rescue Team in Illinois.

Last year, Emergency Services unit members logged more than 2,800 volunteer hours, responded to more than 75 emergency scenes and provided service at more than 80 special events. For more information about joining the unit, call (630) 837-0301 or email htes@hanover-township.org.
