Submitted by St. Charles Noon Kiwanis

Two Daily Herald employees were special guests at a recent meeting of the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis.

Jim Davis, DuPage and Fox Valley news director, presented the history of the Daily Herald from its beginning in 1871 in Arlington Heights to its present location and ownership by Paddock Publications.

Photojournalist Laura Stoecker also did a presentation on her photography.

The St. Charles Noon Kiwanis members appreciated the guests informing them of the latest updates on the Daily Herald and the newspaper industry.

The Kiwanis Club meets at noon Tuesdays at 2600 E. Main St., in St. Charles. Kiwanis is an organization of service and community minded individuals who support children and young adults around the world.

One of the top priorities for the St. Charles club is, “Young Children: Priority One.” This initiative places continuing focus on the needs of children in the Fox Valley communities.

Because of the generosity of the community, the club has been able to award monetary grants to over 25 agencies dealing with children in the Tri-City area during the past fiscal year.
