One Truck, One Goal: Charity fundraiser at Schaumburg Boomers seeks to fill semi truck with sports gear for kids in need.

Gear for Goals' is hosting a MEGA Sports Gear and Musical Equipment Donation Drive at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, June 21st at the Schaumburg Boomers Baseball Game at 1999 Springinsguth Rd. Schaumburg, IL.

Gear for Goals (G4G) is a youth charity supplying sports gear and hope to children in need locally and internationally.

Joining Gear for Goals in their efforts is newly appointed G4G Youth Ambassador Jared Kuper who will be throwing the opening pitch at the game. Jared is a high-profile youth activist for the American Diabetes Association who has appeared before Congress as well as the Chicago Bears in his efforts to raise awareness for childhood diabetes and with his appointment as G4G's humanitarian Youth Ambassador, he hopes to increase his impact and reach and to help bring sports and hope to kids in needs.

The event will feature a live DJ performance in the Boomers Parking lot, a performance from the band Acoustic Truth, and a flash mob dance during the 7th Inning Stretch. "The individual goal of the Gear for Goals' Awareness Night at the June 21st Schaumburg Boomers Game against the Lake Erie Crushers is to fill a semi truck with donated new or gently used sports gear and musical equipment," said Dr. Warren Bruhl, Executive Director for Gear for Goals.

Since its inception in 2013, Gear for Goals has provided sports equipment to over 5,000 children in need in the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Russia, Philippines, Jamaica, India, and Cuba.

Gear for Goals seeks to supply 10,000 pieces of sports equipment and musical instruments this year during its 10,000/10,000 campaign.

Gear for Goals is collecting donations at all gates and at the G4G Donation Truck in the Boomers Parking Lot.

"Community members not attending the game are welcome to stop by for some family fun and enjoy the live DJ performance in the parking lot while they drop off donations," Bruhl said.

Attendees can purchase game tickets in advance, or in the parking lot at the G4G Donation Truck at the game.

The event concludes with a fantastic fireworks display after the game at the Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg. The Boomer's event also will feature Superheroes Night and a special Scout Sleepover featuring a pre-game parade and present the colors and campout at the stadium.
