Clothes, cash donations sought for families

The organizers of Barrington Giving Day in December are planning an earlier Back to School event for needy families in August. Both clothing and cash donations are sought. Items such as new and gently used baby clothes, shoes, shirts, pants, jackets and new socks can be dropped off at Barrington area churches, Tower Lakes and Barrington village halls, the Barrington Public Safety Building and Barrington Park District. Cash donations can be sent to Barrington Giving Day c/o John Paul Hills, Barrington Bank & Trust, 201 S. Hough St., Barrington IL 60010. More than 98 percent of cash donations are spent on the families with about 1 percent used to mail out invitations to the families. To volunteer to sort the items or help at the Back to School Event, visit stmatthewbarrington.org. For more information, email info@barringtongivingday.org.
