In regard to your recent "Taking Sides" column on the battle over medical marijuana, I have been in severe pain since 1994 after an accident, with fibromyalgia, gout and RSD reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and I have been using everything from morphine, Vicodin and other painkillers, and I have pain 24 hours a day and am disabled because of it. I can't function like a normal person because of the pain and all the problems that these medications do to my body.

I have a friend in Arizona who has cancer and is dying, and he uses medical pot, and when I was out their he had me try the medical marijuana and it really help lessen my pain. It did not take it all away but did lower it. In spite of the Cheech & Chong image everyone has about people who use marijuana being stoned, acting crazy, and needing to eat vast amounts of food, it simply gave me relief much more than my strong pain pills.

Until you have to live in my world of constant and at times unbearable pain, maybe you should ask yourself, "Don't I deserve something that will make my quality of life better without all the side effects that these prescriptions cause to the rest of my body?"
