College of DuPage to Host Illinois Fire Service 'Home Day' June 20

College of DuPage will host the eighth annual Illinois Fire Service "Home Day" from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, in the College's new Homeland Security Education Center located at the southwest corner of Fawell Boulevard and Lambert Road in Glen Ellyn.

This event, sponsored by the Metropolitan Fire Chief's Association of Illinois, is intended for Illinois fire service leaders to raise awareness about fire and emergency service issues among state and national lawmakers. Speakers will include former FEMA Director and Executive Director of International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Gary Briese; President and Chairman of the IAFC Hank Clemmensen; Illinois State Fire Marshal Larry Matkaitis; and Fire Grant Specialist for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Don Mobley.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with more than 100 fire service leaders, as well as the mangers of 20 fire equipment manufacturers who represent approximately 100,000 employees in the state of Illinois. Illinois Fire Service representatives will also be on hand to describe what funding from the Fire Act Grant has meant to fire service in Illinois. Equipment showcasing funding received during the past 13 years will be on display during the event, which will also feature a variety of vendor exhibits and a facility tour.

Admission is free to all elected officials and staff. There is a $15 fee for all other attendees which is payable at the door on the day of the event.
