Hanover Park accepts electricity supply bid

Hanover Park officials have accepted a bid from Verde Energy USA Illinois to provide electricity supply for the village’s electric aggregation programs. The alternative energy supplier will charge 5.556 cents per kilowatt hour, saving customers about 8 percent compared to ComEd.

Officials expect the rate, guaranteed for one year, to take effect in late August. Residents and small businesses will be enrolled automatically unless they opt out of the program, which was approved by voters in April through a referendum.
