Art Institute offers free tickets to military

The Art Institute of Chicago is offering free admission to military members over the summer.

The facility near Lake Michigan says it’s joining the nearly 2,000 museums that participate in the Blue Star Museums program. The collaborative effort involving the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense means that active-duty military personal and their families get free admission through Labor Day.

Military members have to provide an identification card. The free admission includes up to five family members.

The museum is open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Children under 14 get in free.
