Coroner: Illinois man dies in mowing accident

COULTERVILLE, Ill. -- A southern Illinois coroner says a man operating a tractor was killed when the machine tumbled down an embankment and landed atop him.

Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger says 65-year-old Jerry Scott died at the scene of the accident late Wednesday afternoon near Coulterville.

Styninger says Scott was mowing along a road when the garden tractor went down the 13-foot embankment and crushed Scott.

Coulterville is about 60 miles southeast of St. Louis.
