Sheriff’s police: Missing woman found

A 68-year-old mentally ill woman who had been missing since May 9 has been found, a Cook County Sheriff’s Police news release said Friday. Marcella Somerville, originally of South Carolina, was in Maine Township to visit her Glenview-based sister. Police said Somerville, who is diagnosed with schizophrenia, fled the house when told she eventually would need to return to South Carolina. She left with $300 but without a vehicle or a cellphone. After following various leads, police found Somerville Thursday afternoon near a bus terminal at Higgins Road and Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. She was in good health and on her way to Golf Mill Shopping Center where she planned to buy clothes and find a hotel room, police said. Somerville was reunited with two of her sisters and is receiving medication for her condition, police said.
