Carmi man gets 6 years for online drug sales

A southern Illinois man has been sentenced to six years in prison for selling prescription drugs over the Internet.

The U.S. Justice Department says 40-year-old Michael P. Jackson was sentenced Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. After prison time, the Carmi man must serve three years of supervised release.

Jackson pleaded guilty to selling the prescription drug Adderall from 2009 to 2012 to a Florida woman who operated an illegal Internet pharmacy business.

Prosecutors say Jackson was aware his co-defendant, Lina Rodriguez, resold the Adderall pills through the business she operated in southern Florida.

Jackson and Rodriguez were charged with conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute Adderall. Rodriguez was sentenced in April to six years in prison.
