Streamwood Stride steps off on June 8

The Streamwood Park District invites everyone to join the fun at the annual Streamwood Stride on Saturday, June 8. Races include a 10K and 5K Run/Walk, Double Derby (in conjunction with Bartlett Park District) and 1-Mile Fun Run. Runners and walkers enjoy a pancake breakfast following the event.

The race is held at Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Blvd. Start times are: 1 Mile Fun Run, 7:30 a.m.; 10K run and 5K run/walk, 8:15 a.m.; Kiddie Races, 8 a.m. and the pancake breakfast 8:15-10:45 a.m. Awards will be given out at about 9:25 a.m.

The 5K and 10K routes are on wide, local neighborhood streets; 85 percent of which are flat. There are water stops on the course and splits at all mile markers.

10K and 5K race awards will be three deep in five-year age groups beginning at age 14 and under through 70+. One-Mile Fun Run and Kiddie Race (ages 3-10) participants will received finisher ribbons and all participants will get a T-shirt, goody bag, and pancake breakfast.

Fees to race are: $30 for 5K and 10K runners; $15 for the one-mile run/walk and $7 for the kiddie races.

Pancakes, sausage, juice, milk, coffee, and fruit await all race participants. Family members are welcome to take part in the breakfast for a charge of $2 for children ages 3-10 years old, and $4 for those 11 years and older. Breakfast will be served at Park Place Family Recreation Center Gym immediately following the race.
