In a statement Tuesday, Quinn says Anderson brings "extensive legal and governmental experience" to the job.

He says Anderson has coordinated and overseen legislative agendas for state agencies, including the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

She replaces Carrie Hightman.

The appointment is effective Wednesday.

Quinn spokeswoman Brooke Anderson says the position is unpaid.
