Minor injuries in Wauconda rollover accident

A Schaumburg woman suffered minor injuries when she rolled her car on Route 12 in Wauconda, authorities said Monday.

Wauconda Police Chief Doug Larsson said the unidentified 18-year-old woman was westbound on Route 12 at 12:08 p.m. when she spilled something in her car near the Route 59 overpass. When she reached down to pick up what she spilled, her Honda Accord drifted off the road and up an embankment near the overpass, Larsson said.

She tried to regain control of the vehicle, but overcorrected, he said. The car rolled over twice on the embankment near the Route 59 exit ramp, before coming to rest on its roof, Larsson said.

The woman was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington with minor, nonlife threatening injuries.

She has not been charged, Larsson said.
