We need to contact our federal senators and representatives to protest this ridiculous reduction to the families with the most need. The sequester hits some Illinois families hard this coming month.
Thousands of local families with members on long-term unemployment will be desperate for help. On May 27, 80,000 long-term unemployed Illinois residents will see their unemployment benefits reduced by 1.8 percent.
Weekly benefits are typically $300-$320. Why is it that the sequester cuts mostly hurt the people in need? They suffer but the Washington airport schedules are on time as are the private corporate jet flights. Why is the sequester impact not mentioned by our local government officials?
