Really Fun Days Planned for Libertyville Days Festival
The summer season of events in Libertyville will be kicked off with the 2013 festival, “Libertyville, RFD (Really Fun Days!)” The Libertyville Days Festival celebrates the feeling of a small town community in a big way featuring a parade, carnival, food court, family entertainment, live music, arts and crafts fair, and beer garden. Family events include; Pet Contests, Rib Cook-Off, a Youth Music Stage for local musicians, Watermelon Eating Contest, and a Baggo Tournament.
The 4 day town festival, situated in downtown Libertyville, runs Thursday, June 13 through Father's Day, June 16th. The popular Parade, featuring Musician Tom Morello as this year's Grand Marshall, steps off Saturday, June 15 at 10am at the Libertyville Train Station heading south on Milwaukee Ave. and ending at Highland Middle School on Rockland Rd.
Main stage musical entertainment features Private Drive, Modern Day Romeos, Nine97, and Mellencougar. The new food court, “Church Street Eats” will showcase food from a variety of area restaurants. The Libertyville Days Festival is the annual fundraiser for the Libertyville Civic Center Foundation which provides gathering space for the community at reasonable rates. The Civic Center provides a home for the Libertyville Senior Center and hosts a variety of programs and activities for local seniors.
