Family safe after fire in Glen Ellyn

All residents of a Glen Ellyn home escaped safely Friday morning after a small fire broke out in a bedroom closet, authorities said.

Firefighting crews responded to the structure fire on the 0 to 100 block of Sheffield Court at 7:26 a.m., according to the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company.

Firefighters who arrived to the scene shortly after being dispatched saw smoke showing from the house, and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, officials said.

The residents evacuated the house on their own before firefighting crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was unknown.

A total of six local fire departments responded to the scene or provided assistance at Glen Ellyn’s two fire stations during the fire.
