Arlington Hts. 7th-graders win big at state science competition

The college campus of the University of Illinois was teeming with tweens recently, not for early college visits, rather to compete in the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Science Fair competition.

More than 1,000 science projects were judged from children coming from more than 200 schools in Illinois. All were gathered at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Assembly Hall to present their projects, share their hypotheses, research, results and share their enthusiasm for and love of science.

All of the St. Peter Lutheran School seventh-graders won highest honors (Gold) or second highest honors (Silver). Student’s project categories included behavioral science, botany, consumer science and physics.
