Barrington Art Festival bringing artists, visitors to village’s downtown

Barrington Art Festival takes place this weekend

The village of Barrington, the Barrington Cultural Commission and Amdur Productions will put on the fourth annual Barrington Art Festival this weekend, featuring dozens of artists from across the country showcasing their original works.

The event takes place in downtown Barrington, Cook and Station streets, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Parking and admission are free.

“We are delighted to return to Barrington for a fourth year,” said Amy Amdur, founder of Amdur Productions. “The artists and art-loving community of Barrington have made all of our events a wonderful success, and we look forward to continuing the tradition this year.”

The festival offers the work of 130 juried artists in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, photography, watercolors and wood.

There will be live music, food and fun art activities for kids, including an art scavenger hunt. Young artists shine in the Youth Art Division of the festival, which showcases the work of artists ages 18 and younger.

Daily drawings take place at the festival, where several festival-goers will receive Art Buck$, courtesy of Amdur Productions, to spend on a piece of art at any of Amdur Productions’ 2013 festivals.
