CCU Announces iTunes Promotion for Students

Waukegan, IL May 21, 2013: With some, daily distractions compete for their attention, leaving the teaching of financial literacy to our youth to be a daunting task.. Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $604 Million; Waukegan, IL) understands this challenge and with that in mind, has created a reward program for students looking to get a head start on managing their own finances. The reward is “in tune” with today's youth: a chance to win an iTunes gift card for students enrolled in Student Choice Checking.

From now through the end of June, the Member-owned credit union is offering all Student Choice Checking account holders an opportunity to win one of two $50.00 iTunes gift cards. Any student opening a Student Choice Checking account between April 1 and June 30, 2013, is automatically entered into a random drawing for a $50.00 iTunes gift card. So no student is left behind, CCU will award a second $50.00 iTunes gift card to all Student Choice Checking account holders enrolled in the program prior to April 1, 2013.

“Helping students understand the value of financial literacy by managing their own money and other resources is vitally important,” noted Sean M. Rathjen, CCU President. “Our iTunes promotion provides a way to encourage them to take an interest in securing their financial future. The program promotes sound decision making and responsible money management while encouraging the students to take charge of their lives as they budget their own finances, manage their own line of credit and learn other fundamentals that will better prepare them for the future.”

CCU's Student Choice Checking account is available for Members ages 13-21. This specially-designed account includes a Debit Card with $310.00 Daily limit, Mobile Banking, Online Banking, free electronic statemens and the option to open a Student VISA credit card. Students will also enjoy the benefit of reimbursed ATM fees up to $25.00 a month. Parents or legal guardians are required to be joint owners on the accounts, enabling them to work closely with their children as they learn important lessons regarding monitoring and maintaining an account of their own.
