How they vote could determine the outcome a federal lawsuit against the county. Two of West Dundee’s largest thoroughfares — the intersection at routes 31 and 72 and a nearly three-mile stretch of Randall Road — soon will be under construction for about six months. Xilin Adult Day Care received unanimous approval from the village board last night to open at 145 E. Algonquin Road. Xilin will convert the former office industrial space, which has been vacant for more than six years, into an adult day care facility serving up to 100 seniors. A Schaumburg woman remained in jail yesterday after police said she was driving under the influence when she rear-ended a cyclist in East Dundee and fled the scene. The cyclist nearly died from his injuries. Erika M. Morset, 33, faces several charges including leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving under the influence. Full story.
A McHenry man accused of threatening to kill the U.S. ambassador in Serbia as well as Serbians living in the Chicago area was arrested by U.S. State Department agents Saturday. Police say Russell K. Gordon, a U.S. citizen who had lived in Serbia between 1996 and 2012, sent text messages and other threats regarding a visa dispute involving his wife. Full story.
A fire early Sunday morning in Naper Settlement’s Fort Wayne building has been ruled accidental by the Naperville Fire Department. The cause of the blaze has been related to the Civil War Days encampment taking place there over the weekend. Full story.
