Des Plaines economic development director resigns

Des Plaines’ Community and Economic Development Director Alex Dambach resigned Tuesday to pursue other career interests after serving in that role for less than a year. His last day is May 31.

The search for his replacement will begin immediately, City Manager Mike Bartholomew said in a news release. “Alex played a critical role in securing new anchor tenants for vacant sections of the Metropolitan Square shopping center in downtown Des Plaines,” Bartholomew said in the release. “He also prepared important updates to the zoning ordinance that will ultimately improve the city’s business climate by making it easier for many small businesses to open in our community.”

Dambach also was responsible for streamlining the application process for zoning approvals, and helping the city secure an economic development consultant, Bartholomew added.
