The Federal Aviation Authority recently reversed its decision to close several airport towers due to funding issues. On Nov. 10, 2001, our daughter (age 8, at the time) earned her Young Eagles Certificate at Meigs Field, having flown in a C-150 N6297R aircraft piloted by Robert C. Bejra. Her face beamed with delight.
Chicago's then-Mayor Richard M. Daley ordered Meigs Field destroyed on March 31, 2003, in the middle of the night for "security reasons."
With funding and security being a top priority, what are the possibilities of Chicago re-establishing Meigs Field to its former heyday and a viable productive airport?
