No surprises: tax bill goes up again

Well, the tax bills came and no surprises here. Once again in this down economy where property and home values are still downward, our Kane County taxes increased by $682.78.

The tax rates went up for all taxing districts, with District 303 reaping the bulk of it with an increase of $365.56. Out of our entire property tax bill over 50 percent goes to D303.

And, the amount we put into all the pensions increased also. While I feel people are definitely entitled to what they put into their pensions, I am tired of paying into their pensions as well. We pay into seven different pensions on our tax bill and yet the pension funds are still in trouble. I find that simply outrageous.

Thanks for another year of sticking it to us.
