Federal flood assistance

Grants, temporary housing, home repairs and low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs are available from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to Lake County residents and businesses affected by recent flooding. Property owners must register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling (800) 621-3362 and they should be prepared to provide insurance or other information to substantiate losses. Those contacts also apply to resources offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration for homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofit organizations. Applicants for those programs can also apply via a secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. More detail on the location of disaster recovery centers and the SBA loan application process is available at (800) 659-2955 or by emailing disastercustomerservice.sba.gov.
