Beutler’s blast lifts Fremd
Fremd used a 3-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a victory that gave them a 4-2 victory over Rolling Meadows on Tuesday and wrapped up a second-place finish for the Vikings in the MSL West.
Marcus Middlebrook tied it up with an RBI double in the final inning, and Sam Beutler finished the game by hitting a walk-off 2-run homer.
Matt Isola went 2-for-4 with a double, and Beutler finished 3-for-4 for Fremd (18-9, 11-5) as Mac Rosman earned the victory.
Mike Dolan had a double for MSL East champ Rolling Meadows (16-9-1, 13-2), which finished with 7 hits and did not commit an error.
Schaumburg 2, Prospect 0: The visiting Saxons made the most of their 3 hits in claiming a Mid-Suburban League victory as starter Dylan Roskin pitched 5 and earned the victory.
Conant 5, Hoffman Estates 4: The visiting Cougars saved their best for last, producing all 5 runs in the top of the seventh inning on the way to an MSL West victory.
Mike Viverito and Steve Bola doubled for Conant, and Colton Comstock earned a victory in the relief after allowing 1 run with 3 hits and 4 strikeouts in a 3-inning stint.
St. Viator 7, Elk Grove 5: The visiting Lions scored twice in the fifth and sixth innings to get ahead of the Grens and stay there in nonconference play.
Matt Prazuch went 2-for-4 with a double for St. Viator (17-12), and Bobby Calmeyn went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
Adam O’Malley and Matt Wary both had 2 hits for Elk Grove (21-9).
