Police spokesman John Mirabelli says the officer was treated and released from a hospital for bruises and other non-life threatening injuries.

He says the driver of the vehicle was arrested and charges are pending.

Officers approached the woman's car because she was blocking their path through an alley Monday night in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

Mirabelli says she punched one of the officer's in the face, grabbed hold of her vest and put the car in reverse, dragging the officer.
