The first Friday of every month is the First Friday gallery event at Lakeside Legacy Foundation in Crystal Lake, IL. The May 3rd event featured student artwork from the Crystal Lake D47 schools and students of Creative Artistry School of Fine Arts, and had record attendance of over 200 guests. Guests enjoyed art, free appetizers and participated in coloring, origami, and face painting. Music at the event was provided by teachers and student musicians from D47 school choirs and two groups from the McHenry County Youth Orchestra. Siobhan Cottone, Lakeside's Executive Director remarked, "The May exhibits featuring local student artists and musicians is a highlight of our gallery calendar! Lakeside is about inspiring creativity in everyone, and these exhibits showcase the talents of not only our students but of our art/music educators!"

If you missed First Friday on May 3rd, the talents of the young and emerging artists are on display through May 23rd. The public is encouraged to view the exhibits Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm at 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake. The artwork from the D47 students is installed in the Dole, Sage, and Hallway galleries at Lakeside. The Creative Artistry School of Fine Arts exhibit is creatively installed in the rooms on the 3rd floor of the Historic Dole Mansion. Viewers of both exhibits will experience how the galleries at Lakeside are steeped in art and local history. The public is welcome to stop by for a self-guided tour and to view the beautiful art by local students!
