Families Leave Roskam a Mother’s Day Message

The Saturday before Mothers Day families had arranged to meet with Peter Roskam's staff at his Dupage office. They planned to tell him how important immigration reform is to keeping families united. At the last minute Roskam's office cancelled the meeting. Disappointed but undeterred the families visited the office anyway.
Finding nothing but a faceless smoked glass door at the office they decided to give it a "message makeover ". The door was decorated with personal messages to the congressman written on colorful butterflies that symbolized migration and freedom.
Roskam's constituents were upset that he had not met with them. They vowed to continue to engage him in the democratic process and encourage him to support upcoming immigration reform.
The event was supported by Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and Northwest Suburban Organizing for Action, along with several local churches.
