Man gets 41 years for sexually abusing 2 toddlers
Cook County authorities say a traveling carnival worker was sentenced to 41 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two toddlers.
State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez says 29-year-old Wilfredo Elias of Chicago entered his plea and was sentenced on Wednesday. She says Elias videotaped repeated sexual assaults on the children in 2011 while they were 2 and 3 years old. Elias was babysitting at the time.
Prosecutors say a family member discovered the images on an electronic memory storage device and contacted police.
Elias was arrested last September in Missouri while traveling with a carnival.
He received a 31 year sentence in one case and a 10 year sentence in the second case. Under Illinois law, he will be required to serve 85 percent of the sentence.
