Red Line train derails in Lincoln Park
A train derailed Thursday on the elevated tracks along Chicago’s busiest transit line.
The fire department said no one was reported injured and passengers were moved to other rail cars.
One end of a Red Line car came off the tracks in Thursday’s incident, which occurred between the Armitage and Fullerton stations in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
The fire department said all cars remained upright.
The Chicago Transit Authority said Brown Line trains, which share a portion of the same track, were also delayed as a result of the derailment.
The CTA used shuttle busses to move passengers around the blockage.
The Red Line is the backbone of the city’s rail system and carries nearly 250,000 passengers on an average weekday.
