Beth Judea’s youth group honored with prestigious award

In April, the Kinnus Spring Convention for USY (United Synagogue Youth) was held in Northbrook. Kinnus is the CHUSY (Chicago United Synagogue Youth) Region’s Annual Spring Convention. It is also the time that the new regional board is elected and installed. Also, the two giant awards are announced: Most Improved Chapter and Chapter of the Year.

Beth Judea’s USY won the ultimate and most prestigious award, which is Chapter of the Year. This award recognizes the Beth Judea USY Chapter as being the best one in the entire region. It is a most prestigious honor. Beth Judea gives a hearty mazel tov to each and every member of BJUSY. This award is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of each and every one of its members.

Special kudos go out to the hardworking members of the BJUSY Executive Board: Cara Golberg, president; Larry Bender, communications vice president; Allison Goldstein, Israel affairs vice president: Sarah Heiger, membership/Kadima vice president; Samie Moskowitz, programming vice president; Sam Sussman, religion/education vice president; and Joel Spiegel, SA/TO vice president.

A very special congratulations goes to Cara Golberg, who also was elected to the CHUSY Regional Board as the 2013-2014 membership/Kadima vice president.

Special thanks goes to the Youth Vice President of the Congregation, Joan Smith, and the rest of the youth committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support the youth in every way possible.

Also, great thanks goes to the entire Beth Judea Congregation through their support both financially and in so many other ways.

The real hero of this group is Marc Sender, youth director of Beth Judea. He and his dedicated Youth Advisors Cheryl Meltzer and Aaron Polonsky helped make this Youth Group such a great one. They are absolutely tireless in the amount of work they put into USY and the other Youth Groups of the congregation.

Beth Judea is located on Route 83 and Hilltop Road, Long Grove. For information about all the Youth Groups, just call the synagogue office at (847) 634-0777 and leave a message for Marc. A child’s family need not be a member of Beth Judea. All Jewish children in the community are invited to join.
