One person was hurt Wednesday when a freight train struck an SUV in Grayslake.

The accident happened about 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of routes 83 and 137.

The woman driving the blue SUV was making a left turn from northbound Route 137 onto Route 83 when it was hit by the northbound train on the Canadian National tracks, authorities said.

The motorist suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Grayslake Fire Protection District officials said.

No tickets were issued immediately after the crash. The accident is under investigation, Grayslake police said.
