Vernon Hills has extended its contract with Integrys Energy Services for electricity to residents and small businesses through May 2014. Village officials also determined that 100 percent of the power would come from renewable sources. Residents already enrolled don't have to do anything to continue with Integrys, but can opt out and go to another provider if they choose. Savings on the supply from Integrys over ComEd for the coming contract year are estimated at 7 percent. Vernon Hills is part of a seven-community consortium with Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Palatine and Wheeling that have contracted with Integrys.
