Wauconda Senior, Chloe Nissen Awarded Alpha Nu, Delta Kappa Gamma Grant

Wauconda High School senior, Chloe Nissen, was awarded the Margaret Chickey Memorial Grant in the amount of $500 on Saturday May 4th by the Alpha Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. The chapter began awarding this grant in 2010 to honor Margaret Chickey, an education major and graduate of Libertyville High School who passed away in 2010. Her mother, Janet, is an Alpha Nu member.

Chloe was an excellent award recipient due to the superior qualities she displays. She is an intelligent young lady with a high GPA and glowing references from her teachers. Besides her active and exemplary participation as a senior at Wauconda High School, she has sought numerous opportunities for community involvement, including Sunday School teaching, Mobile Food Pantry volunteer, tutoring, aiding in a bilingual 3rd grade classroom, and teaching Vacation Bible School. She will be majoring in Bilingual Education at the University of Illinois in the fall.

The Educational Services Committee that selected Chloe for this award included Alpha Nu members: Co-Presidents, Sandra Moran from Wauconda and Teta Minuzzo from Lake Bluff, Helene Bernard from Deerfield, and Jan Shawgo, Kathy Zils, and Janet Chickey all from Libertyville.
